The Valley Dance Theatre Company stages two productions per year. Each December we present a full length production of Tchaikovsky's holiday classic The Nutcracker with the Livermore-Amador Symphony Pit Orchestra and Harmony Fusion Chorus. For our Spring Production, usually held in late May, the company chooses from a variety of classical and contemporary pieces and features new choreography by our company members.
Reverence at the Bankhead Theater
Révérence [french, pronounced rev-eh-RAUNce]: The final curtsey or bow given by a dancer at the end of a ballet class to show respectful admiration for the teacher.
The program featuredKindra Showers and Patrick Rogan in the full-length ballet Slaughter on 10th Avenue, Madison Burgess in Act II from Swan Lake, and Amy Dykes in the “Rose Adagio” from Sleeping Beauty. The program also included Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings and Vitali's Chaconne with accompaniment by the Livermore-Amador Symphony pit orchestra and featured the winners of the 35th Competition for Young Musicians, Michelle Lee on violin and Cory Chang on piano.
The Nutcracker at the Bankhead Theater
Valley Dance Theatre's 27th annual production of Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker returned in 2007 to charm audiences at Livermore's new Bankhead Theater. In addition to the six public sold out performances, the VDT also performed privately for a local corporation's holiday party and sold out 2 additional shows to elementary school children in and around the Tri-Valley.
Gorgeous costumes and spectacular new sets are the backdrop for our exceptional Company dancers as we bring the classic story of Clara's dream to life on stage. Featuring the Livermore-Amador Symphony's pit orchestra and Harmony Fusion Chorus, this is a rare chance to see a full-length Nutcracker accompanied by live music.
